Steve Sowerby
Born and raised in Hamilton and after leaving school, served his apprentice in the small Northern Waikato town of Taupiri. After qualifying, also working in the Waikato on various commercial and industrial sites. Steve is qualified as a craftsman plumber – craftsman gasfitter – registered drainlayer and also as a builder, having his LBP licence.
In his early 20s, Steve saw the light and moved to Coromandel Town. He’s been here ever since – some 40 years – yes, 40 years of plumbing experience. Seems like a life time or two. A fond lover of rugby – playing it at Hamilton Boys High (a scrawny No. 11 – hard to believe) and touch rugby at Coromandel Rugby Club. Still a staunch Waikato follower.
Can also list mountain biking and multisport events as pastimes – participating in the Moehau man several times.
Nowadays there are more gentle pastimes such as fishing and diving and hopefully someday may get the old bus on the road.
